Royal Naval Recognition

The 6th Torbay Britannia Sea Scouts are proud to be a Royal Naval recognised group. There are only 99 other RN recognised groups in the UK and 1 in Gibraltar.

Every 18 months the group undergoes an inspection to ensure it's standards meet those required to keep hold of it's RN recognition. Our last inspection was in June 2014 which we passed with flying colours. The Inspecting Officer: David Gray, Staff Officer Sea Scouts, said "Your Group and Unit exude enthusiasm and you offer your young people genuine challenge and adventure.  Your turnout on parade was exceptional.  I had no difficulty in renewing your Royal Navy Recognition."

The Royal Navy organises yearly activities that our Scouts and Explorers take part in, including a Soccer Sixes Competition at HMS Excellent and a Swimming Gala at HMS Raleigh.

The group gets to fly the defaced Red Ensign and members wear Royal Navy Recognition Badges on their uniforms.
